Tariq Drabu Recommends a Oral Health Checklist for Your Next Holiday

Summer holidays are just around the corner and when it comes to packing for those few weeks of sun-filled sun, there are certain oral health products that you should not be leaving at home.

There are six items that you should carry with you on each and every holiday for you and your family to ensure that no matter where you are, you can protect your teeth and continue your oral health routine from anywhere and at any time. Whether you are staying in a top resort on a tropical island or you are heading to the beach for a few fun days of camping, you will want to ensure that your oral health products are packed to protect your teeth and the teeth of your entire family this summer.

That means packing the toothbrush. Now according to Tariq Drabu, how you pack and care for a toothbrush is important as it can harbour dangerous bacteria which you don't want getting in your mouth. You can get travel toothbrush holders, otherwise allow to dry and then place in a bag, when you arrive at your destination, ensure you take out the tooth brushes and allow them to stand upright.

Next you will want to pack toothpaste, while this sounds obvious, being prepared means yo don't wake up tomorrow morning in a campsite to find that there is no open shops nearby and you don't have any toothpaste with you. Carry what you know, ensure it is a fluoride toothpaste that protects your family's teeth.

Tariq Drabu also recommends carrying mouthwash with you. You may want to carry mouthwash in your car and you and the family nibble along the way, you can rinse out mouths, to reduce the risk of food getting stuck on teeth and harbouring bacteria as a result.

Always carry sugar free chewing gum, Tariq Drabu advises. Sugar free chewing gum can increase saliva production while removing plaque and bacteria, it can also help neutralise acidity, which promotes healthy teeth and gums. This must not be used as an alternative to brushing, but it can be useful when in the car for long journeys.

Tariq Drabu also recommends you keep your dental floss on you at all times and after meals you can use the floss to clean between teeth to promote good gum health moving forward.
